General Mambo Administration

Now we can proceed to tuning your Mambo, including changing the default language. Please visit the Global Configuration (the top item in the Site menu).

You can make your website invisible while it is still in development, change the offline message and edit the name of the website, change the default HTML editor and the number of items in each list in the first tab of the configuration. In the Locale tab you can select the language and the time zone that the site will display. The language can be picked up amongst the ones you have already installed and published.

In the Content tab options like whether to display the printer-friendly version link can be turned on or off for your content. For those of the options that have complicated names, additional information can be obtained when hovering with the mouse pointer over the blue circle at the end of each row.

If you are willing to change the database setting, you can do this in the Database tab. The server, database name, user and password can be edited from that tab.

We do not recommend changing the default Server tab settings. We especially do NOT recommend the GZIP Page Compression option to be turned On, because if your provider is using a transparent proxy this option may cause slow access times and prevent you from viewing your updates.
