How to add a Forum to your PostNuke web site

We recommend that you use phpBB for PostNuke (called Pnphpbb for short) as your favorite forum. It is available for download as a component from here:

1) Unpack the zip file and upload the phpBB2 folder to your /modules folder. (Inside the compressed file you’ll find three directories, an .sql file and the install.txt file, upload or unzip those two directories to your modules directory overwriting the files.)

! NB: YOU CANNOT CHANGE THE NAME OF THE MOD FOLDER, the name must be phpBB2 so your path to the module would be for example: /var/www/htdocs/modules/phpBB2 if you change the name of the module directory IT WONT WORK.

2) Open config.php and edit the following info:

$dbhost = "";
$dbname = "";
$dbuser = "";
$dbpasswd = "";

They are pretty much self explanatory but here it goes:

$dbhost is where your database is at, in most cases localhost, so it would be $dbhost = "localhost";
$dbname is your database name
$dbuser is the username you use to conenct to your database
$dbpasswd and this is the password

3) Now its time to execute the sql file, so do it, you should know how to do this , it all depends on your host or if you have phpMyAdmin or a similar tool installed. If you do not execute this file the board will not work.

IMPORTANT NOTE (YES AGAIN) Some users have reported error when installing the mod forum and having it use a different database than postnuke, it is HIGHLY recomended that you use the same database as postnuke.

4) Now open the pn-changeinfo DIR, inside you will find a pn71x.zip and a pn72x.zip file, inside this file is the changeinfo.php file that makes profile unification possible, I know this is a Posnuke file and I should not modify it, but without it itбЄs impossible to unify profiles. So depending of which version of Postnuke you are using, that is the file that you should overwrite.

If you are using Postnuke .714 or .713 upload the pn71x.zip to your root of postnuke and unzip it, or you could just unzip it on your pc and upload it to the corresponding dir.

The same action is needed if you use Postnuke .720 or .721, BUT use pn72x.zip

You can visit PostNuke.com for further reference.
