What a Managed VPS in India Actually Costs in 2026

PUBLISHED 4 AUGUST 2026

If you have shopped for a managed VPS in India recently, you have probably noticed that the advertised prices look impossibly cheap and the renewal notices do not. This article explains the gap, with numbers we read out of live shopping carts rather than off marketing pages.

All figures below were checked on 4 August 2026, in INR, excluding 18% GST. Hosting prices change often — treat this as a snapshot, and check the linked pages before making a decision.

The headline price is usually a prepayment, divided

The single most important thing to understand about VPS pricing in this market: the big number with the "/mo" after it is very often not a monthly price. It is the total cost of a two- or three-year prepayment, divided by the number of months.

Hostinger says so in the footnote on its own pricing page:

All plans are paid upfront. The monthly rate reflects the total plan price divided by the number of months in your plan.

That is not a criticism — it is disclosed, and prepaying for three years is a perfectly reasonable thing to do if you know you want the server for three years. But it makes cross-provider comparison meaningless unless you normalise it. Here is what the same plans cost if you want to pay monthly:

PlanAdvertisedWhat that number isTrue month-to-month
Hostinger KVM 4₹2,399/mo24-month prepayment ÷ 24₹3,499/mo
MilesWeb VM4₹2,799/mo24-month prepayment ÷ 24 (₹79,268 due today)₹5,499/mo
Bluehost Enhanced NVMe 8₹6,582/mo36-month prepayment ÷ 36no monthly term offered

Then there is what the headline price leaves out

A working managed server is not just CPU and RAM. It needs somewhere to put backups, usually a control panel, and — if it is genuinely managed — someone whose job it is to patch and watch it. Those are frequently separate line items.

Taken from the MilesWeb cart for VM4, all priced per month on top of the plan:

  • Daily Auto Backup — ₹1,449/mo (without it you have no daily backup)
  • cPanel — ₹1,999/mo (mPanel or DirectAdmin ₹999/mo)
  • Server Security Suite — ₹2,499/mo
  • 360 Monitoring — ₹899/mo

From the Hostinger cart for KVM 4: weekly backups are free, but daily backups are ₹1,169/mo. There is no cPanel option and no management option at all — Hostinger's VPS line is self-managed, so the server administration is your job or your contractor's.

Bluehost splits the two apart explicitly. Its self-managed VPS line states: "cPanel and 24/7 priority support are not included with VPS plans." Its separate Managed VPS line does include cPanel and support, at roughly five times the price of the self-managed equivalent.

Like for like: 4 vCPU, 200 GB NVMe, managed, with cPanel and daily backups

Same job, same shape of server, everything you actually need switched on, at true monthly rates:

Two things stand out. First, the managed Indian market clears at around ₹8,900 to ₹9,450 a month for this class of server — the ₹2,399 and ₹2,799 headline figures describe a different purchase entirely. Second, Hostinger only looks cheapest because the management is not in the box; if you can run a server yourself, that is a real saving and you should take it.

Where we sit, and why

Our L-2 is currently ₹5,180 a month against a market that clears near ₹9,000 for the same specification — and it carries twice the RAM of both managed competitors in that table. We will be honest about why: our list prices have not been reviewed against this market in some time, and this comparison is part of that review. If they move, they will move up, and anyone who signs before then keeps the rate they signed at.

What the price includes today:

  • Twice the RAM. L-2 carries 16 GB against 8 GB on the two managed competitors. The same holds at every tier — 8 GB against Bluehost Standard's 4 GB, 32 GB against Bluehost Ultimate's 16 GB.
  • Daily backups are included, not an upsell. 100 GB on L-1, 200 GB on L-2, 400 GB on L-3.
  • The price is a monthly price. You can pay month to month and leave. Nothing here requires a two- or three-year prepayment to look affordable, and our longer terms cost exactly twelve times the monthly rate — no prepayment discount, and no prepayment penalty either.
  • An engineer answers. We are a small practice, not a call centre. The people who tune and patch the servers are the people who reply.
  • Mumbai, Dallas or Frankfurt, your choice, with data residency handled by design.

L-38 vCPU · 32 GB · 400 GB NVMe · 20 TB₹9,242same rate

For a direct comparison: Bluehost's Standard NVMe 4 managed plan is ₹4,769/mo for 2 vCPU and 4 GB RAM, and only on a 36-month prepayment — it renews at ₹6,582. Our L-1 is ₹2,590/mo for 2 vCPU and 8 GB RAM, payable monthly, at the same rate whether you commit for one month or three years.

Why we do not bundle cPanel

Because it is not free for us either. cPanel's partner rate for the Admin tier is around $21 a month, and bundling it means charging every customer for it — including the ones running Docker or n8n who will never open it. So it is an add-on, quoted at or below cPanel's own retail pricing for the tier you need — ask us and we will price it against your account count. CloudPanel or CyberPanel is included free on every plan.

When you should not buy from us

If you are comfortable on the command line and do not need anyone to patch the box for you, buy a self-managed VPS. Hostinger's KVM line at ₹3,499/mo monthly (or ₹2,399 prepaid for two years) is genuinely good value for what it is, and we would rather tell you that than sell you management you do not need. Our own self-managed KVM VPS line starts considerably lower than our managed plans for the same reason.

Managed hosting is worth paying for when your time is worth more than the difference, or when something going down on a Sunday is somebody's problem and you would prefer it not to be yours.
