You do, directly under n8n’s own Sustainable Use License, and for running your own instance for your own internal business purposes it costs nothing. We are not reselling n8n and you are not paying us for access to it: the image adds ₹0, and your money buys the server it runs on. If you later want features that need a paid n8n plan, you buy that from n8n.

Not quite, and the difference matters. n8n is "fair-code": the source is public and you can read, run and modify it, but the licence limits you to your own internal business use and forbids selling access to it as a service. For running your own automations it behaves like free software. It is not OSI open source, and we would rather say so than let you find out later.

n8n Cloud is n8n’s own hosted product, billed by execution volume. Here you run the Community Edition on your own server: a flat price for the machine, no execution metering from n8n, and your data on your instance. The trade is that some things are Cloud- or Enterprise-only; see the next answer.

Worth knowing before you commit. Sharing workflows or credentials between users, Projects, SSO (SAML/LDAP), environments, external secrets, log streaming, Git version control and the AI workflow builder all need a paid n8n plan. In practice a Community instance is effectively single-user for collaboration. Multi-main clustering is enterprise-only too, so we would not claim high availability on this. If you need those, tell us and we will talk about what you would buy from n8n.

Not to get started; the image deploys with n8n already running, so there is nothing to install. To own it over time, some comfort with a server helps: this is a self-managed VPS, and updates, TLS on your own domain and general housekeeping are in your hands. If that is not where you want to spend your evenings, add a Server Management tier at checkout.

On a self-managed instance, updating is your call and your job: n8n ships several times a week, and the sane routine is: back up, then update. We take a daily full-disk backup of the VM, but file- and database-level backups and restores are yours. That cadence is also the honest cost of self-hosting; if you would rather hand the server side to us, Server Management tiers exist at checkout, and you can talk to an engineer about what they cover before you buy.

Yes: it is your server with a public address, so point a subdomain you own at it and configure n8n behind whatever TLS setup you prefer. Bring a domain you already have, or register one with us.

Nothing. The image adds ₹0: each N-plan’s monthly price is identical, to the paisa, to the same-hardware L-tier of our Standard KVM VPS, so you are paying for the server, never for n8n. Compare the cards on both pages if you like; that parity is deliberate.
