What WordPress is
WordPress is open-source software for building a website, a blog or a shop: in its own words, software you can use to make something beautiful. You write in a browser, the site is yours, and tens of thousands of themes and plugins fill in whatever it does not do out of the box. It has been going since 2003 and is licensed under the GPL, which is the unshowy reason it never traps you: the code is yours to take. It is also, by W3Techs’ count, the most-used content management system on the web by a distance: nearly 60% of all sites whose CMS they can identify, and better than 40% of the web in total.

Why the hosting matters
WordPress will run almost anywhere, which is exactly why so much of it runs badly. It is PHP and a database doing real work on every page a visitor asks for, so the things that decide whether it feels quick (how much memory PHP actually gets, whether OPcache is on, how contended the box is, how current the stack is) are all decided by the host, not the theme. That is what you are choosing here. Not a control panel: the machine underneath it, and someone who tunes it.

Questions
Can you move my existing site over?
Yes, and it is the normal way people arrive. Send us a backup or the current host’s details and we will bring the database, uploads, theme and plugins across, check it on a temporary address first, and cut the domain over when you are happy. There is no charge for the migration.
Which PHP version do you run?
A current one, and you can ask for a specific version if a plugin pins you. Worth being precise about this: WordPress *recommends* PHP 8.3 or newer; it does not require it, and it still runs on much older versions. Recommended is where you want to be, because it is faster and gets security fixes, but nothing forces your hand overnight.
Do you update WordPress and my plugins for me?
We keep the stack under it current (PHP, the database, the web server, the certificates) and we back the site up daily so an update that goes wrong is recoverable. WordPress core and plugin updates stay under your control by default, because a plugin update can change how your site behaves and that should be your call. If you would rather we handled them too, ask and we will talk about it.
Is a shared plan enough, or do I need a VPS?
For most sites, a plan here is enough; WordPress is not inherently heavy. It gets heavy when a page has to build itself from scratch for every visitor and the plugins are doing real work. If you are running a busy shop, or you have outgrown a plan before, say so and we will look at the actual numbers with you rather than guessing. Our cloud VPS and semi-dedicated plans are there when a site genuinely needs them.
Do I get a certificate?
Yes, on every site, renewing automatically. WordPress treats HTTPS as required for every install and so do we.
